Multiple Scopes on one PC?

Postby testsrus » Sun Sep 03, 2017 2:55 pm

I would like to know if multiple scopes can be added to one laptop/PC.
Specifically, I am looking for 16 channels.
Can four Model 4424 be on one PC?
Can two Model 4824 be on one PC?
And if so, does that mean multiple copies of the software need to run at the same time, or would all channels show on the one software screen if needed?
Thanks...

Hi testsrus,

You can control and access more than one hardware PicoScope on one PC. To do this you would need to run one instance of PicoScope 6 software for each hardware PicoScope.

You can also synchronize the start of the capture periods for the PicoScopes by sending the same signal to one input channel of each PicoScope to be able to get them to trigger within 1 sample period of each other. However, the PicoScopes would be highly likely to drift out of synchronization over the duration of the capture period (because their sample clocks are independent).

So if I have a PC with 5 USB ports, I could attach 5 Model 4424 Scopes to it.
Then in order to view all the channels, I would essentially need to open up your software 5 times & the screens would be independent of each other....each one showing only 4 channels. There is no way to show all 20 channels on the one screen. Am I correct?

There is no way to show multiple scopes in one instance of PicoScope, you would need to write your own software to achieve this.
