DC Noise

Post by JoeU »

I have a 2204A. I'm using a 9 volt battery to test DC noise levels. I see a 10ns sine wave when the time division is set to 500ns or less. The VDC peak is 9.261 and valley 9.194. This noise disappears above 500ns. I tried a notebook running on battery and got same results. I also get random spikes of + or - ~85mV ~5-20us apart at any time range. 1.5V cells and my 24V solar energy batteries behave in a similar manner. Is this normal? Probes are P6100.

Thanks,

Joe

Also specify how you are measuring, e.g. probe 1:1 or 1:10 or Banana jacks or BNC connector with wires or something like that.

Be also sure to not touch none of the wires (your body is a great antenna for this kind of stuff)
