EL008 vs EL005 + Windows XP

Post by FBlanco »

Dear Sir,

We are planning to install a temperature monitoring device for 7 cold rooms. The rooms are all in the same space, and we would prefer a system with display of temperatures and alarm control (dialler) independent from the computer (that is used mainly for other purposes, with access to two persons only). Power cuts are frequent, but short.

We have some questions on the Enviromon system.

Is there a external display available for the EL005?

With 15,000 readings, the EL008 could store 21 days of data at frequency of 15 min from 7 sensors. What would be an appropiate rate to effectively monitor the cold rooms?

Three of the rooms have materials sensible to freezing, so we are thinking of an alarm relay to cut-off the power when temperatures go below 0.5C. Can enviromon do this?

Finally, can the software run on Windows XP. If not, what would be the options?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Francisco Blanco

Hi,

The EL005 datalogger does not have an external display, this is only available on the EL008 datalogger.

The frequency that you sample at is dependant on the rate of change for the temperature. If the rate of change is slow then the sample interval can be lengthened ... but if the temperature can change rapidly should something occur then you will need to take a sample more often.

By taking samples more often you will fill the memory up quicker and to avoid missing or overwriting the oldest sample values, it will mean that you will have to download your samples more often. The duration between downloads, as you know can be calculated by the number of sensors and the sample rate.

The facility for switching electrical power off when an alarm is activated has been withdrawn.

Best Regards,

Thanks,

Regarding Window XP, is the software compatible?

I would like to ask if it is possible to use the auto-dialler in a terminal that is conected to a PABX system. A dedicated line is not available in the facility.

Best regards,

Francisco
