Synchronize sampling between scopes

Post by dnoyeb »

Is it possible to get two scopes to synchronize when they each take their samples? Maybe by using ext? Or is ext just a dumbed down analog channel?

Thanks!

Ext is only available on the 5444B and is a simplified analog channel, designed to free up the full input channels when you have no interest in the characteristics of a trigger signal, but just need it as a trigger.

You will never be able to get true synchronised sampling with these scopes, they run off their own clocks, and the vertical accuracy would vary so affecting the exact trigger point. The 6000 series would be the closest to achieve this as they have a reference clock input, so at least the sampling times would be the same, but the vertical accuracy would still be an issue.
