Serial Decoding - Digital Command Control (DCC) Signals

Post by Hitesh »

Hi,

The PicoScope Serial Decoding engine supports the decode of Digital Command Control (DCC) signals for model railway systems. The video below provides an overview of reading signals being sent to a locomotive decoder:

The corresponding article can be viewed in The A-Z of PC Oscilloscopes section of our website.

Although a PicoScope 5000 Series Flexible Resolution Oscilloscope is featured in the video, the DCC protocol decoder can be applied to signals captured using other real-time PicoScope models. If a low memory PicoScope model is being used (e.g. 2204A or 2205A), then it is recommended to use slow-sampling captures (normally 200 ms/div or slower).

Full steam ahead!
