Calibration for 16-bit oscilloscope

Postby JulianLee » Wed May 24, 2006 7:14 pm

I will be purchasing a 16 bit oscilloscope in the near future for use in the UK.

Can you please tell me:

What is the purpose of calibration and is it necessary?

Secondly, approximately how many days in total will delivery take with and without calibration?

Thanks for your help

Hi there,

Sorry, I'll be a bit more specific. I'm conducting an amateur experiment, so I'm not too familiar with this stuff. I'm planning on purchasing the ADC-216.

I will be measuring changes in voltage output from a magnetometer, and would need to accurately make measurements, I believe, in the order of around 1mV up to about 15mV.

Is calibration necessary? Will it make a difference to the accurancy of my results? Or is it just really a certificate, double checking what should already be accurate?

Also, I would appreciate it if you could give me an indication of delivery times for that unit and whether you have it in stock.

Thanks again for your help!
