sample rate explanation required

Post by pupillo »

Hi,
I just bought a 3206d.
I set one only probe, 8bit, one buffer.
I also set 100 ms/div, 1GS and I get : 4 ns sample interval, 250MS/s sample rate and 250,000,007 samples in my wave properties.
Apart from that 7 that I don't understand clearly but I suppose it's a rounding effect or similar, I expected 4ns, 500MS/s and 500,000,000 samples as the scope has got 512MB of memory.
Why?
Regards
Pupillo

If the trigger mode is None/Auto/Repeat the scopes memory will be set to at least two segments, one for the live capture, one for the currently displayed capture. This is necessary to preserve data in case you stop the scope before capture is complete.

To use the full memory in one capture use Single trigger.
