Noise on HPLC trace

Post by Ian »

Hi,
I'm using the ADC40 as a substitute for a chart recorder on an HPLC system. We're having a problem with noise in the signal - although it's easy enough to smooth it out after the experiment we'd like to reduce it during recording as is hard to see what's going on real time.
We're using picolog.
The frequency of the noise is 5-6hz, the amplitude varies but ranges around 0.1-0.2 units on the X axis. It's also strangely flat topped with most of the variation in the lower end.
The ADC is connected to the Uv trace output on the machine via a BNC-spade end coax cable.
Is there anything we can do to reduce the noise on the signal.
cheers
Ian

Hi Ian

Thank you for your post.

If you are using Picoscope then you could use the filtered mode to cancel out noise. In Picolog however there are no ways of canceling noise in Real Time.

Best Regards

Unfortunately we need it real time, I've got some reduction by tinkering with the sampling rates, it's still better than using a paper based chart recorder.
Thanks
Ian
