Is picoscope ADC 200/100 suitable as an automotive scope ?

Post by pico_newby »

Hi, i purchased a picoscope model adc 200/100 with the view to use it as an automotive scope. Is this particular scope suitable for automotive diagnosing ? I'd like to check things like injector pulses coming out of the ecu/ecm and also check/ measure the primary/secondary sides of the ignition system.

Would i need to buy attenuators to do these types of diagnosing ? What limitations will i have using the picoscope adc 200/100 for automotive purposes ? Thanks for your input and advice................John

The ADC200/100 is not designed for automotive use and is not compatible with our automotive software. We would not recommend using a non-automotive scope in the engine bay of a car, there are dangerous spikes which are likely to damage the device, and being a very old model it may not be possible for us to repair it if it does suffer damage.

Our automotive scopes come with improved input protection which makes them suitable for use in auto workshops.
