ADC212 - 100 sample rates

Post by Guest »

We currently use a ADC212 and are looking to upgrade to a ADC 212-100.

The ADC is used to measure either a pair or a single 100Hz AC sinwave for magnetic B-H loop measurments after amplification. Input signal range is in the order of +/- 200 mV. We require a minimum of 12 bit vertical resultion, so 8 bit faster systems are not feasible

My first question is what is the highest resolution of time base that can be measured on a single cycle of a 100Hz wave (10mS) firstly with single channel then double channel measurements?

Next, through triggering is it possible to examine a smaller proportion of the wave for example 1/10 of it so a 1mS window of measurement? It seems on the ADC212 it can be diffucult to advance the trigger far into the 100Hz wave at smaller time scales. I assume this is due to the size of the buffer memory on the ADC. What would be the farthest you could advance into the wave at different small time intervals? For example 100uS interval

Again what would be the highest time resolution that can be measured for both a single and dual channel measurement?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Paul

Thank you for your post.

The maximum resolution you can have on the time base is the maximum size of the buffer. You can set the number of samples for the scoep trace in Settings | Options | Advanced.

The zoom function should enable you to examine a smaller part of the wave form. I am not sure how the trigger would enable you to do this. The zoom capabilities depend on which unit you use and the effectiveness of them will depend on the number of samples in the trace.

Hope this helps

Best Regards

This might help:

The 212/100 will have a max sample rate or 50Mhz when both channels are deployed and 100Mhz on one channel. Max buffer is 128,000 samples per channel. You can enter the values and time base to then calculate the sample rate performance.
