Limited Resolution

Post by jhalnon »

I am using a 3204 to view signals that vary from 0 to 12V. In order to avoid clipping I set the range to +/-20V. Unfortunately I want to zoom in on the range from 7 to 10 Volts. When I do the resolution is too poor to see what I need to see.

How do we zoom in on a signal with an offset?

Hi

Thank you for your post.

I am not aware of a way to definately get round this problem. Unfortuantely you are limited by the resolution of the scope. You might find though that using the ±10V range is ok - it has an overload protection and 2V extra would be ok.

You could try oversampling to try and increase the resolution, I do now know how much of a difference this would make.

Hope this helps

Best Regards
