probe isolation

Post by franzix »

I have 2205A scopes and am curious about whether the probes are isolated from eachother. Do the two probes share the same ground inside the hardware? Can I make two measurements at the same time with different ground references? If so, is there a limit to the difference between the two references?

I've tried to find this in literature and in the forum, but so far no luck.

Thanks.

Hitesh

Hi franzix,

The BNC connectors on the oscilloscope share a common ground, with the PicoScope being grounded via the USB connection to the PC.

Could you provide details of your application in terms of what you are trying to measure either here or by e-mailing support@picotech.com? This would be helpful for safety reasons in case you are dealing with high voltages (including mains).

Regards,
