Hi

I would like to use pico ADC-11 to measure the decelleration of a large rotor.
The decelleration would take place within two 1/8 portions equally spaced about of a full rotation, then it would try to return to its original speed by means of a diesal engine. This rotor is spining at 1950 RPM.

I am thinking of using a 360 or 720 toothed trigger attached to the rotor then measure the pips using a magnetic pick up.

Do You think I am on the right track or would a different sensor / trigger be better. If so, what would you suggest?

Thanks Jeff

Hi

Thank you for your post.

The important things to think about are how fast you will need to sample. If the rotor has an RPM of 1950 and you attach the sensors that you mention, how quickly will you need to sample in order to ensure you catch all of the signals?

What is the output of the sensor? Is it a frequency? If it is a frequency then I would recommend also using a frequency to voltage converter so that the ADC-11 can read a voltage. You could then scale this back in the software.

Hope this helps

Best Regards
