Picoscope instance freezes when multiple instances open

Post by MeridenJohn »

In my problem analysis I must view multiple waveforms repeatedly (making measurement, investigating details etc). It is most convenient to open 6 or so files at one time. Each file contains two channels of data totaling 100k samples (not very big)

I find usually 1 or 2 instances of Picoscope freezes up, the rest are fine.

My computer is Win 7 x64 with 4Gig ram and plenty of HD space.
I am using Picoscope 6.7.27.5 I was using an older version but the data (from a different machine) was saved in a newer version so I updated to the latest.

Problem is annoying, where should I start to look; Picoscope or my computer?

BTW We've been using Picoscope for a couple of years now and everyone loves it. Its really a boon to our technical communications. And I am oh so happy you did not make the screen look like an old Oscilloscope.

Thanks

John

Hi John,

Please try PicoScope 6.7.28 (RC) - I've been able to open about 9 or 10 files with about 48k samples on channels A and B without any issue.

I'm using Windows 7 32-bit, Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 4GB RAM.

It's worth taking a look at the Windows Task Manager to see what is happening - look for the PicoScope.exe process and check CPU and RAM usage.

Best wishes,
