USB Isolator

Post by grendell »

Hi
I thought it would be a good idea to get a USB isolator for my 2206 as the Dell
laptop I use is grounds the USB socket through to the mains plug. In this area
(south Asia) the earth pin of the outlet can be anywhere up to 120v above
true ground!

Just wondered if others have used such devices.

I don't have any details but believe people have used this approach. You will need the USB end of the isolation to be powered to supply the scope so you may end up with similar issues.

Hello, Anyone actually using USB Isolator? I just built ADu4160 based isolator. PS 2207 is recognized by Windows but not by PS6.
If someone is using an isolator, please share the information of which isolator works with PS.

thanks,

Ax

I use a isolator from cesys, which seems to work okay with a 5000 series scope. However I need the external power supply.
Is the input/output capacitance of the powersupply specified as this can I worst case create large common mode currents
