Compatibility

Post by moe bull »

Hi

I would like to inquire which accelerometers (industrial accelerometers) are compatible with the Pico ADC-20.

I am asking because most industrial accelerometers which I have seen have a single cable for both power and signal purposes. However, the excitation voltage required (to power the sensor) is usually 12 or 24V, which exceeds the power capabilities of the ADC-20. An obvious solution is to use an external power supply to power the sensor while connecting the sensors output signal to the respective input channel of the logger. However, this is not possible as the sensor has one pin for both power and signal; ie. it is intended to be connected to the device directly. Is there any way around this. Please advise.

Thanks

Hi,
The ADC-20 & ADC-24 loggers are not compatible with the accelerometers your describe (IEPE accelerometers), because the loggers are far too slow to respond to the high frequencies measured. The loggers can only respond to a few Hz at most.

What you require is one of our dedicated IEPE oscilloscopes and matching IEPE accelerometers:-
http://www.picotech.com/picoscope4224IE ... tions.html
http://www.picotech.com/picoscope4000-a ... html#TA095

This two channel scope can accept input from any IEPE compliant accelerometer and it can also supply the necessary power to energise it.
Please contact me again if you have any other questions.

PeterF.
