Tuning probes

Post by Mike_T »

Hi -
The application note about tuning oscilloscope probes ( http://www.picotech.com/applications/ho ... robes.html ) says:
"The easiest way to compensate the LFC part of a probe is to input a square wave with a relatively slow edge but, importantly, no overshoot".

I just wanted to check - can I assume, firstly, that the signal generator of my Picoscope 2204 set to 1 KHz square and 2 V amplitude gives a signal suitable for tuning the PP787 (M1007) probes (with attenuation set at x10) and secondly, that there is no interaction between the generator and scope parts of the 2204 that undermine this operation. I don't have a separate signal generator and I have no independent way to verify the AWG output from the 2204.

I have not seen anywhere in the notes that says to tune probes this way - (probably because it is so obvious? :) )

Thanks, Mike

That will be fine. You will even notice that when you start the signal generator from default the settings are 1kHz Square Wave ;)
