ADC-40 use with USB

Post by pnev »

I am new to this forum, so please excuse my ignorance.
I am a Physics teacher in a school in rural Mexico. We have an old PicoScope ADC-40 (bought in 1999!) and an even older PC laptop with a suitable parallel port.
The scope works well but, as you can imagine, slowly. It is time the laptop was retired but the other laptops available do not have the correct parallel port.
I have read in the forums that there is no way to use a parallel to USB converter with the ADC-40. Is this still true? Are there any known work-arounds?
I do not think I can justify buying a more modern USB PicoScope.

Thanks,

Pete

We have had to stop manufacturing our own brand USB to parallel converter because an essential integrated circuit is no longer available. NO other USB to parallel adapter from another manufacturer will work with our devices. So far, we have only been able to get our parallel products working using plug-in PCI or PCI-Express cards in desktop PCs and Cardbus or Expresscard adapters in laptops.

For laptops with a PCMCIA card slot:-
