ADC - 11 - measuring 5v sensors / 12v sensors

Post by canyondust »

Hi.

I have a USB version of the ADC 11 on order. I note it has an upper voltage limit of 2.5v.

What would be the best way of reading greater than this voltage? Say 5v sensors or 12v sensors?

Best regards

James.

Hi James,

I assume you are buying this second hand or old stock as we do not make these anymore. Are you also getting the terminal board with this as it is very useful to have?

In any case you will need to create a potential divider circuit do drop the incoming voltage into the logger for more information please read the terminal board manual under section 2.1.3

http://www.picotech.com/document/pdf/ad ... s-en-6.pdf

Once you do that you can then scale it in the software to read accordingly.

Hello Ziko.

Thank you for your very helpful reply. Indeed I am purchasing this unit second hand. Is there a modern day equivalent?

The board you kindly sent the link too looks very useful but unfortunately I do not think I will be receiving that.

Is it still available?

Very best to you.

Hi the Picolog 1000 replaces the USB ADC11:

Unfortunately we do not do the terminal board for the ADC 11 anymore.

Hi.

The unit on arrival, is actually brand new and from Rapid Electronics. It was bought from Ebay - but from there Ebay shop I now see.

It is a shame that the board is not available.

Would there be some work around?

Hi.

I have had the chance to look at the logger this morning - install the software and it is a 1216 version. So not quite what I was expecting.

Is there an input board available for this and the same question regarding the input voltage range?

Regards

james.

Hi James,

Ah excellent the 1216 is a current product and it is the higher spec one of the two that we make. We usually sell them with the terminal board, the part number for the terminal board is PP545.

You can find it on the link below, just select Data Acquisition and it will be the first on the list:
