Enviromon and Pt100 thermocouples.

Post by tbltbl »

Considering what a fantastic device the Enviromon is, I find it strange that there is no module for PT100 thermocouples. Is there any way to add PT100s to an Enviromon network ? Maybe first convert to 4-20mA ? Any suggestions ?

Hi Richard,

Yes you can, you will need to use an EL037 convertor and then use a PT100 or PT1000 4-20mA transducer. The EL037 convertor can take 4 inputs, each can be adjusted to take +/-2.5V, +/-10V or 4-20mA inputs, it can then be scaled in software to read accordingly:

If you require more information about using third party sensors or doing more with EnviorMon, we have three EnviroMon Value added resellers, who can help with more specialist applications.

Where are you based? Depending on the part of the globe you are in they can help:

Thanks Ziko,
I was rather hoping that Pico could supply a more elegant solution for Pt100s. I'm in Belgium and use Rato in Antwerp as our supplier. I have ordered 4 Pt100 to 4-20mA converters from Conrad and will build my own module to add them to our Enviromon network.

Hi Richard,

Yes we already have 3 convertors that can measure temperature, the EL026/30, EL041 and EL001. Fortunately there are many companies that make 4-20mA transducers for PT100/1000 which can then be coupled to the EL037.
