24VDC Data Logging

Post by mrohs »

I have to perform data logging for 4x 24VDC signals in industrial envirement.

4 channel with 24VDC
Nominal frequency: 200Hz
Parasitic frequency to be monitored: 10KHz
Storage on PC hard disk
Minimum 8 hours

Which product is suitable (datasheet, price)
Is it possible to connect 24VDC direktly to your device?

Hi mrohs,

What resolution are you looking for?

The PicoLog 1000 series units might be of interest - using the PicoLog software, you can capture data at 1Ks/s per channel but it probably won't be suitable for a parastic frequency of 10KHz, although this might be feasible using the software development kit as the maximum streaming rate is 100kS/s shared by all channels.

You would have to scale the voltage down to a range of 0 to 2.5V - PicoLog has a scaling feature to allow you to scale the values back.

You can find further information and data sheets on the product web page:

http://www.picotech.com/multi-channel-daq.html

Including the small terminal board, the PicoLog 1012 (10-bit, 12 channel) and 1216 (12-bit, 16 channel) are £105 and £159 respectively.

The alternative is to use two PicoScope 2204 devices. This is an 8-bit resolution 2 channel PC Oscilloscope devices which can also be used with our PicoLog software and has a bandwidth of 10MHz. As sampling would be limited to several milliseconds between samples using the PicoLog software, you would have to write your own software to capture the waveform with the parasitic frequency.

As the maximum voltage range for the device is +/- 20V, you would need to use attenuation probes such as the MI007 at x10 setting.

Further information and data sheets may be found here:

MI007 Probe: http://accessories.picotech.com/passive ... html#MI007

The price for the PicoScope 2204 is £159 while the probes are £15 or £30 for a set of two with a free protective case.

Please note that all prices exclude delivery and VAT.

Information on the PicoLog software may be found here:

It is possible to log data from multiple devices using the PicoLog software.

I hope this helps.
