fast pulse laser monitoring

Post by kuenta77 »

I would like to monitor fast pulsed lasers on a PC. The pulse widths are as small as 5 ns and the repetition rate is up to 500 kHz. I am considering a photodetector without amplification, with the followings specs:
Rise Time: 1 ns
NEP (W/vHz): 1.9 x 10-14
Dark Current: 0.3 nA (2 nA Max)
Junction Capacitance: 6 pF

I think it should be necesary to detect mV's and to have about 50 Ohms impedance, but not that sure.

Could the picoseries offer any solution for easy monitoring on a PC?

Our scopes have most sensitive ranges of +/- 50mV FSD with either 1 Megohm (or alternatively 50 ohm) input. Analogue bandwidth varies from about 5MHz to 1GHz and the number of bits of resolution from 8 bits to 16 bits. The suitability of the scope will depend upon the output of the full specification of the photodetector.
