6404 crashes with 1 or 2 nSec/div

Post by Dirk van der Werf »

Just got a 6404 and examining it. I found the next situation.

a) Installed scope software yesterday.
b) Run scope software, all according to the instructions.
c) Downloaded and Updated by request of the application (restart etc).
d) Next day, clean start. All fine.

I calculate and set parameters (buffersize, samplespeed etc.) and play with it to understand how it works and what are the limits of the tool.

The following order of actions result into an application crash:
1) Start the PicoScope application
2) Stop capturing
3) Change "Collection Time" in to 2 or 1 nanoseconds/div
4) Just wait a few seconds
5) The error window appears.
6) The phenomena is reproducable

Anyone else noticed this?

System:
Dell T1500 desktop, 8Gbyte mem, 2,9Ghz, i7 870
Windows 7 professional 64-bit (Enterprise) (functioning daily without issues)

I have tried your sequence of events on my PC (32 bit Windows 7 Pro) and haven't been able to replicate the fault. I currently don't have access to a 64bit machine so can't verify your exact setup at the present time.

For information there will be a new release of Picoscope software on the website soon which addresses an issue with the 6000 series driver, although not specifically the issue in your trace file. Please try this when it is available and let me know if it fixes your issue.
