pocket PC

The small pocket PCs are not very useful for scope work. There is not enough display resolution to show the detail and it would defeat the whole purpose of PicoScope. However, if it's a hand held Pico you want, it has already been done: http://www.autonerdz.com/yabbfiles/Attachments/handheldpico.gif

Ranges

The PicoScope Automotive software has these ranges already configured along with a lot of other automotive specific resources and settings. However, your 2202 is not an automotive scope and the automotive software version is not compatible. You will have to make your own custom ranges for convention...

samples

Hi Ed, Thanks for visiting the web site. Glad you enjoyed it. Be sure to wander about in our Autonerdz Community Forums too. I ran that test for you here. I got 500,002 samples in the PicoScope measurements. I was at 65% CPU at these settings. (1.6 GHz Pentium M) What are your max samples set to und...

Sample Rate Calculator

Hi Ed, My second thought: why isn't the Sample Rate Calculator built into the software? Under measurements you can select # of samples. Think you already discovered this. So we kinda already have a samples calculator built in. Here at Autonerdz, we designed the calculator to help compare the raw sam...

212 Kit

Hi Rick,

Yes, the 212/3 was the standard scope in the Automotive kit until the 3000 series scopes. Now we have the 3223 two channel and 3423 four channel model options.

These new units run circles around the old 212 series models.

Samples

Hi Ed, AHH, you are experimenting...I like that 8) The calculator assumes that you are using the buffer value that you entered. PicoScope changes its data acquisition at 200ms/div to a streaming mode and no longer used the internal memory in the ADC unless you are set to Block Mode under Settings/Op...

Samples Calculation

Hi Ed, You may find this sample rate calculator useful: http://www.autonerdz.com/java/SampleRateCalculator.html Divide the max samples selected and max ADC speed by the number of channels deployed for the 3000 series. For example: the 3423 unit running 4 channels with 512,000 samples selected: 128,0...

PicoScope Intro

Hi Dave,

You may enjoy this introduction tutorial movie:

It's a bit dated in that shows the 212/3 series unit but it's still relevant.

radio

I'm not a radio guy but It's still a fully functional oscilloscope and I don't see why you would not be able to use it for that application unless you need something like Picolog which does not come with the software package for that unit. If you did choose a non-automotive unit like the 3424, you c...

3423

Edgars,

Good choice.

It will work great on a laptop meeting the minimum requirements listed:

http://www.picotech.com/auto/automotive ... scope.html

Best performance is with USB 2.0. The 3423 only works with the automotive software.

Auto Scopes

RJM, I think you are better off with the new 3423 or 3223 automotive scopes. You don't need the extra vertical resolution. 12 bit is plenty. The sample rate and buffer size are way more valuable and both of these way outperform the 216. In addition, the fast USB direct interface is many times faster...

Custom Ranges

Hi Jim, For the program to remember your custom ranges you created, you have to save them. Do this by going to File/Save Settings. Now they will be there next time you start the program. Good idea to also save a psd file with your favorite settings and ranges you can simply recall to recover all you...
