Re: Setup Picoscope 6 from command line

Hi Stefan, You can edit/create your own *.psprobes file as the content is text, however, the problem that you are up against is that, within PicoScope 6 you would have to access the functions that setup the Custom Probes (e.g. for use, creation, etc, but more specifically for importing probe files)....

Re: DB9 extension cable for 4444 ?

Hi nurber, Belden 9271 is a good choice of cable, as it enables the PicoScope 4444 to perform within the specifications that we state (bear in mind that RG-58/U which is typically used for Scope Probes actually has a higher capacitance per ft/m). Any cable will attenuate higher frequencies if you in...

Re: DB9 extension cable for 4444 ?

Hi nurber When you say higher voltage than typical UART stuff, exactly what voltage are you referring to? If you're also considering using higher frequency signals, then, if the cabling capacitance increases noticeably, they will get attenuated to a some extent. In the PicoConnect 442 this will be v...

Re: Serial decoding - SPI frame settings

Hi Justyn,

Unfortunately, you can't do either of those.

All you need to do is accept that the decoding can start part way through a frame and just set the Time rulers after the first partial frame, and before any last partial frame and then decode between rulers.

Re: DC measurement error on 4444

Hi nurber, To check the accuracy of the PicoScope 4444, with your reference, you can do the following. For DC 1 Select the ±10 V input range (to avoid overranging), use DC coupling and set up the capture for 12-bit, 14-bit or both 2 Let the device settle for 30 mins for stable operating temperature ...

Re: DC measurement error on 4444

Hi pathammer, There is no way to automatically zero the offset without manual intervention (because the scope has no way of knowing what affect the electronics is having on the offset to ground). However, you can use a similar procedure to the one adopted in PicoScope 6, to zero the offset with manu...

Re: DC measurement error on 4444

Hi pathammer, Just to get your expectation right, you can get an error of up to +/- 90.5mV on a measurement of 9V, because that would be within the stated DC accuracy of the PicoScope 4444, according to our specifications, as shown in the image below: PS 4444 accuracy.png So, your values are only ma...

Re: Streaming mode at high rate

Hi bennog, The maximum streaming rates for our PicoScopes, when using the SDK are (mostly) stated in the specifications for the specific PicoScope on our website. If the spec is not on the website it will be in the Programmers Guide (as it is for the PicoScope 4444, which is 160MS/s). The USB 3 stre...

Re: Antialiasing filter strength?

Hi Ben321,

This scenario only exists for the 2204A and 2205A, and as I mentioned it opens the door to unreliable operation for applications that need consistent streaming with no interruptions (which is most applications). So it's not something we want to generally recommend.

Re: Antialiasing filter strength?

Hi Ben321, No the specs haven't changed. It is possible to set the sample rate to 6.25MS/s in streaming mode with the API for the 2204A. The issue is that, as it only has a 8kS buffer any interruption of the USB stream will not be buffered for long enough, so you would then get gaps in your data. So...

Re: Speedometer Setup

Hi Mihai, It would be a risk using the impedance matcher because it would actually attenuate the signal voltage by too much. The Impedance matcher has an insertion loss of 16.6dB, which means that, as the maximum gain of the board is 20dB you would only have a gain of 3.4dB. A gain of 3.4dB in power...

Re: Antialiasing filter strength?

Hi Ben321, You may be placing to much emphasis on aliasing. As explained why, on a previous post, our PicoScopes don't have anti-aliasing filters. So, if you don't want aliasing you need to limit the frequency content of your signal and/or provide a large enough frequency range between the non-atten...

Re: Frequency measurement precision

Hi maxwatt, The Time-Base accuracy is 100ppm which is 1 10,000th. So, if you are measuring a frequency of 200Hz the error due to the input channel measurement should be be 0.02Hz. If you are generating your own square waveform at 200Hz, the 0.02Hz error due to the hardware PicoScope capture of the s...

Re: Problem displaying 1PPS time signal from GPS Receiver

Hi Marlie, Can you save and post a psdata file of what you are seeing. Also, how are you able to confirm that the pulses aren't just not being received at the input channel, when they are no longer being displayed? (are you capturing them on another measurement device at the same time?). And what is...

Re: Picoscope edge counting - not working?

Hi Mark, If the signal excursions go out-of-range then the edge counting won't work. Even though you have applied an offset, you're signal goes out-of-range (which you can see if you zoom into the top of it). You have an offset applied to bring the signal down on the screen, but this is an 'Axis Sca...
