are outer rings of BNC inputs connected on 2203 scope?

I think this is a question about differential inputs. I'd like to hook up 2 identical voltage output pressure transducers to each other and read their difference on channel A, and a third identical transducer to channel B. This means the outer BNC ring of channel A will be at a different voltage tha...

I never considered using Picolog, as I'd assumed it would operate too slowly. I need to capture and save the voltage trace vs time and then examine it by zooming in both x and y and using the cursors to ascertain time intervals between events. Overlay traces on top of each other to compare them. If ...

meter display of frequency is slower than scope display

I've come to the conclusion from reading a number of earlier posts that I should be using the frequency readout on the scope display, not the meter, if I want to get a decent response time. One statement from an earlier post says "The meter does not know whether your voltage is just DC or contains A...

gain anything by going from 100 msec/div to 50 on ADC1110?

I'm using 3 channels of the ADC11/10. I don't need the whole 1 second recording I get at 100 msec/division. Would I gain anything by going down to 50 msec/division, say in terms of time resolution or other things?

"invalid file format" error on old saved .psd file

I can't seem to open some old .psd files from 2002 and 2003 anymore. ADC-11, now running R5.16.2. The converter is set correctly in settings, I believe.

Can you take a look and see if you can tell me what's going on?

Thanks.

meter display reads 0 Hz while scope shows live numbers?

Is there any reason the meter display set to frequency would work diferently than the scope display with frequency calculated at the bottom right? It seems that as I ramp up a signal from 0 to 50-100 Hz in a few seconds, the meter display stays at 0 Hz for quite a while, then starts displaying the r...

Very nice. Works like a charm. The audible alarm is perfect for my application; I operate my mechanical device when I hear the beep. I did notice that if I chose a very long timebase, such as 10 seconds for a trace, the numbers are way low. Why is this? I have it set now at 10 msec for the whole dis...

Can I use Picoscope as a realtime frequency counter?

I'm trying to read an inductive pickup that gives me zero-going voltage pulses at about 50 to 100 Hz, but my automotive multimeter (set on the frequency range) updates or averages so slowly (several seconds) that I have an unacceptable lag. ( I want to manually actuate another device, a manual valve...

Hi picojohn; thanks for listening. Most failures were due in the past to the computer locking up waiting for the trigger. We learned to arm the trigger only shortly before the event (less than 2 or 3 minutes); this seemed to help. Getting a newer computer also seemed to help. (Boy did we have proble...

what should I check vs intermittent triggering failures?

Have experienced failure to trigger intermittently over the past several years on a succession of 4 Dell laptops running Windows; always running the latest non-beta version of Picoscope on a parallel port ADC11. We trigger on voltage rise from a pressure transducer. In the past the most common failu...

Thanks for the advice, but it didn't work just yet. The y-axis values are still displaced way high, some off the top of the graph; no change from before. I wonder if I need to strip something out of the psw.ini file as well? Here's what the psw.ini file looks like now, after inserting the line about...

Viewing a saved .psd trace without scope attached?

The y-axis values on a saved .psd trace are all screwy unless the scope (ADC-11/10 parallel) is attached. Is there a workaround for this, so I can send a colleague traces by email and not need to send him the scope? Saving the trace as text, importing into Excel, and graphing in Excel is too cumbers...

current monitoring working fine now

The zero offset I mentioned in my last post has disappeared; maybe because I'm on clean AC now instead of the home generator-powered supply that was used for testing. I also had to be careful about all the connections being tight to avoid what I assume was noise being picked up. I do NOT have a load...

Is your signal AC or DC?

If your current monitoring device puts out an AC signal the ADC-16 won't be able to interpret it, since it will pick off seemingly random points on the waveform. This was my problem in monitoring AC current in a motor. See my earlier post in this forum. If you have a scope that samples faster (than ...

can't use a bridge rectifier for mV signals

Quite a deafening silence on this post. If this is "faster response than Email" I can't say I've gained much. Anyway, I've found out that one can't use a bridge rectifier to convert AC mV signals to DC because there isn't enough voltage to turn on the silicon diodes in the rectifier, which require a...
