Line Thickness in version 6.7.21.2

I just updated to version 6.7.21.2 and can no longer set the line thickness. I select Tools->Preferences->Colors then try setting Line Thickness. No matter what size I set (1, 2, 3 or 4 pt), the display always shows using the 1 pt line thickness. Is there some other way to set thickness? Am I settin...

Re: Resolution enhancement limits number of samples

Hi Ziko, Thanks for the response. I am using the scope with a Core I7, so have plenty of CPU on the PC side. It would be kind of sad to have to limit the fast PC's usage due to the other slower PCs. The user always has the option to easily limit the number of samples if on a slow PC. However, the si...

Re: Resolution enhancement limits number of samples

What do you mean by "affect the overall performance"? Limiting to 2 MS is quite surely limiting the performance, but that can't be what you mean, since that is what you are doing to supposedly NOT limit the performance... One of the advantages I was expecting from this scope, based on its specificat...

Re: Resolution enhancement limits number of samples

Thanks for the reply. It would seem that if I am using resolution enhancement, that I would want to use the maximum number of samples possible. That makes the sample rate faster, which in turn reduces the effects from the averaging, like limiting the frequency bandwidth that I can capture. As it is ...

Re: PicoScope 3406B Not Responding

Seems like a strange feature to have the PicoScope treat the computer going to sleep as a "start sampling" command. Why wouldn't you simply have PicoScope wake up to exactly the same state it was in when it went to sleep? Then there are no prompts needed, it is very natural.

Re: PicoScope 3406B Not Responding

Hi Hitesh, I tried PicoScope 6 Beta, and the original failure no longer occurs, but it does some other weird things. If I have the scope actively taking traces, then when the computer goes to sleep, it waits a few seconds, then appears to wake up again, restarting the trace. That is OK, you only mis...

Re: Active filtering in persistance mode

Hi Ziko, I tried using Beta 6.7.13.3 and still have the problem. In fact it crashed once (I let it send a report in). I still get separate settings for most of the channel settings between persistence mode and normal mode. Also, if I enable the low pass filter while in persistence mode, the trace go...

Re: PicoScope 3406B Not Responding

Hi Hitesh,
I am using version 6.6.50.3.
If you close PicoScope and restart it, it does indeed recognize the device when I restart PicoScope.
Thanks,

Resolution enhancement limits number of samples

I am using a 3406B Picoscope. When I turn on any resolution enhancement with the requested number of samples set to greater than 2M samples, it immediately changes the requested number of samples down to 2M. If I put it on auto trigger, and have the traces running, it will let me change the number d...

Re: PicoScope 3406B Not Responding

I would think the same. However, from a software point of view, since it is recoverable by simply exiting Picoscope and starting it back up, it would seem that Picoscope could recover itself. As it is, you just get the "Not Responding" message in the title bar forever, like some process in Picoscope...

Re: PicoScope 3406B Not Responding

That is perfect, thanks! I will use the settings. When the hang occurs, it is usually because I was watching something, and just left it up. It wouldn't matter if it reset the scope when I started again. Just was wondering why it didn't recover to an operating state when I came back, and why the wei...

Re: PicoScope 3406B Not Responding

Hi Hitesh, I am running a desktop, Windows 7, Core-i7, Asus P8Z68VLe motherboard. The power options (under Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings) is set for the following: * Dim the display: 5 minutes * Turn off the display: 10 minutes * Put the computer to sleep: 30...

PicoScope 3406B Not Responding

I have a 3406B connected with its external power supply. If I have the PicoScope display on the screen (it doesn't have to be taking data, it can be stopped) and I leave the computer long enough to the screen saver to come on, then PicoScope quits working. If I hit the start button on PicoScope, it ...

Active filtering in persistance mode

Active filtering in the persistence mode, if the cutoff frequency is above a very low level, seems to make the waveform disappear. I am using a 3406B watching a datastream which is about a 1 MHz square wave at 200 ns/div. I then switch to the persistence scope and the first thing I notice is that th...

Re: Measurement problems on 3406B

I repeated the test as you indicated. Also, in order to be more reproducible I reset the default settings. The setup is a single probe in channel A connected to the probe compensation signal. No external electronics are used. (This was not how I discovered the problem, I was just trying to show an e...
