Re: LM35 Temperature sensor

Alternatively you could build a buffer into your LM35 circuits as in http://www.picotech.com/support/topic7671.html or you could use thermistors (which will create a potential divider with the internal 100K). Alternatively you could use three DrDAQ temperature sensors, http://www.drdaq.com/sensors.h...

Re: Water level/Soil Moisture Sensor

Hi, Can't remember why I was going so crazy with caps that day, I think it might have been something copied over from another schematic for a different sensor I made but you can never have enough caps! C4 isn't really necessary I'm not even sure it's fitted on that board. Again the LPF is probably j...

Re: IR Remote Sensor/Decoder?

The driver can't really toggle the output quick enough to do this but.... I did try this briefly by setting one of the advanced IO's to 38KHz 50% PWM and then hooking an IR LED between the IO and the center pin of the sig-gen and putting out the waveform captured by the demodulator (0-3V) using the ...

Raspberry Pi Waveforms

So, a few people in the office have started to receive their Raspberry Pi's. Normally when we see new gadgets around the office we take it apart but there's no case on the Pi so we thought we'd 'scope' it out instead. I reached for a 6403 and started to probe around, there's some pretty interesting ...

IR Remote Sensor/Decoder?

So remote controls are pretty awesome and they're everywhere, TV, DVD, VCR, Stereo......I think the list is pretty endless. Remotes are pretty reliable but when somthing doesn't respond it's really annoying, there's a lot of remote checkers out there but they're pretty expensive and don't really tel...

Hall Effect Sensor (Magnetic Field)

So somebody was showing me how strong their magnet was but I was sure my'n was stronger....time for a magnet sensor! We found a nice cheap Hall effect IC, I settled on the A1302KUA-T from allegro microsystems. First thing to do was delve into the datasheet, most of the characteristics were at 1mA ou...

Getting started with building DrDAQ sensors

The first place for reference to how DrDAQ sensors work is in the Users manual (Pg28 onwards), DrDAQ Datasheets . What's the point in DrDAQ sensors then? DrDAQ sensors let the user have complete control, whatever you can think of measuring, as long as it can be read as a resistance or a voltage from...

Water level/Soil Moisture Sensor

We found a soil moisture sensor from vegetronix http://www.vegetronix.com/Products/Soil-Moisture-Sensor-Probes.phtml and thought the DrDAQ would be perfect to interface this to. Since the output of the 'VG400-LV' sensor is 0-1.8V we were set to go pretty much straight into the DrDAQ's 0-2.5V range o...
