Re: fast streaming mode in PS2000 with 5MS/s

If I remember correctly, this (150 ns to be the shortest possible time between samples, as allowed by the API) is exactly what I found when I worked with the PS2205 some years ago. I usually worked with 5 MS/s (200 ns between samples) because this was the best stable solution. Any sample rate above ...

Re: pico python interface (partial, ps2000)

This is really interesting. I got it running my OpenSuSE 12.2 Linux. After using dos2unix to change the end-of-line characters, it almost worked: open info DRIVER_VERSION: 3.6.2.0 Linux USB_VERSION: 2.0 HARDWARE_VERSION: 16 VARIANT_INFO: 2205 BATCH_AND_SERIAL: AU075/222 CAL_DATE: 15Apr10 ERROR_CODE:...

Re: Buffer overruns in fast streaming mode

When PicosCope run it takes until 50% of CPU time. The high CPU usage of the PS2000 driver seems to be the real reason why it is so hard to acquire data continuously with a PS2000 scope. In result about some 10's of thousands samples is less then -32767 (losted samples) for 10 seconds. How to fix t...

Re: Scope for Ham Radio and General Electronics

Do you need a scope for interactive signal analysis (debugging) or do you plan to do something with SDR (software defined radio) ?

Re: the new "A API" for PS2200 series

Ok, so the real performance (the highest sample rate that can be streamed to disk) depends on my PC and its OS. That was what I had hoped for. So I am really considering to buy a PS2206. In the meantime I have read other posting on this forum about the problem of 64 and 32 bit Linux drivers. If I un...

the new "A API" for PS2200 series

Hello, I just saw that you published the brand new Programmer's Guide for the "PS 2000 A API": http://www.picotech.com/document/pdf/ps2000apg.en-3.pdf It says that streaming mode now allows up to 30 MS/s. Great ! Is this also possible with the Linux driver ? If so, this would be a strong argument to...

Re: Linux Drivers

Today I upgraded my OS to OpenSuSE 12.2 and tried to get my PicoScope 2205 running. It turned out that ordinary users can use the device through its driver only after a one-line-change in one file. Looks like the identifier SYSFS is not supported on modern kernels. --- 95-pico.rules 2008-07-10 11:31...

Re: Picoscope: new Linux driver for 2204 & 2205

Yes, you are right, it is possible to sample continuously with 5 MHz sample rate on a Linux system. You have to be very careful and follow the suggestions in the example code and the manual and then it works even on Linux. At such a high speed, the driver is fragile, if the application program is to...

Yes, I guess you mean something like this:

This project plans to support PS2000, but not yet:

Re: Picoscope 3000 serie issue on VirtualBox

With my PS2205 I have similar problems from time to time. Check the configuration of the VM in VirtualBox. In the USB section, there is a flag that enables USB 2.0. This flag is available only since version 4 of VirtualBox. You have to activate it. The most recent version of VirtualBox (4.1.16) seem...

Re: Picoscope: new Linux driver for 2204 & 2205

Hello Martyn, the reason why I am asking for the new driver is that my application (SDR software defined radio) does not make much sense with the 1 MS/s that the current driver supports. With 1 MHz sample rate, it is almost impossible to receive meaningful signals from the antenna. This poor sound i...

Re: Picoscope: new Linux driver for 2204 & 2205

Hello,

this week you sent out your T&M Newsletter and announced "10x faster streaming" for your USB scopes, even for the 2000 series. I've been waiting for almost two years for this to happen.

Will the new Linux driver for 2204 & 2205 appear this summer ?

Re: Streaming with PicoScope6

When I first used PicoScope 6 I also wondered where the button for recording in fast streaming mode was. From this kind of question you can see that there are quite a few customers who need this feature. Why don't you just implement it ?

Re: Streaming mode ps4000

Good argument. The PS4000 doc mentioned above (section 4.6) lists three sampling modes: block, rapid block and streaming. What I had in mind when I mentioned fast streaming mode is something that doesn't exist on the PS4000 devices, but only on the PS2000 device that I use. So you are right, there i...
