Re: How can the probe measure a signal without the ground?

Thank you for your reply. So if I am going to use the function generator of the scope and probing using channel A, I do not need to use the ground probe of, for example, channel A. Right? But if I need to know the potential difference across two points that neither of them are true ground of the cir...

How can the probe measure a signal without the ground?

In the image below I attached the signal generator output to a resistor. The output is a square wave. When I attache the other probe to one side of the resistor, I see a square wave, however, because I did not attach the ground clip anywhere I am wondering how could the oscilloscope detect a signal?...

What type of cable should be used for AWG terminal?

Can I use the same cable I received as probes for the wave function generator or does it need another type of cable? The probe itself does not seem suitable to be fed into the terminal of a breadboard.

How to probe a voltage using ps2204A?

I have a ps2204A. I was wondering how to probe a voltage using this oscilloscope. I read that the probe has two parts, one is the ground (the one with alligator clip and in black) and the other one should be in contact with where I want to probe. Does the ground mean anywhere with a less potential t...

Re: Two question about Picoscope 2204A

I am not knowledgeable in this area so I might be wrong, for example, if I probe a voltage which is out of range for the oscilloscope could it damage the laptop too? I was also wondering if it is worth to wait to buy a newer entry level oscilloscope. Think of entry level cameras for which every now ...

Two question about Picoscope 2204A

I am afraid if I use a PC oscilloscope, I might make a mistake and damage my laptop. Are there safety mechanisms in Picoscope 2204A that protect my laptop? The Picoscope 2204A is a entry level oscilloscope with a reasonable price for me. I was wondering if in the near future there will be a newer en...
