I emailed Pico about this and they're aware of the issue. It appears that Picoscope beta is only supported on Ubuntu 18.04. In my case I installed Mint 19.1 (which is based on Ubuntu 18.04) and it is now working. I was also told (on the 19th August) that the new release would be "in the next month"....

PicoScope issues

I'm running PicoScope 6 on a Macbook Pro with MacOS 10.12 3.3 GHx Quad Core i7, 16GB RAM. I'd be interested if anyone else is also experiencing any of these issues. I'm aware at least No. 2 has been reported. 1. The computer gets very warm and runs at around 380% cpu. Is this normal? Needless to say...
