Re: Bad output from a device - claims from manufacturer

Hi Gerry,
Yes, indeed, I will communicate this issue to the manufacturer hoping they wil be able to fix it. Thanks for your advice and all your help.
Best regards,
Juan

Re: Bad output from a device - claims from manufacturer

Hi Gerry, Thanks for your detailed explanations and for the added mix shift info, but regarding "mix shift" I think what the manufacturer actually meant is that in order to measure it right with the PicoScope I need to "calibrate it" or set the zero position right. When I swap the probe connections ...

Bad output from a device - claims from manufacturer

I'm using my Picoscope 4444 with the 441 differential probe for measuring the output of a device which is supposed to generate a square wave signal with a 1/4 of a volt positive offset. The device runs on batteries. Unfortunately my Picoscope 4444 shows the signal has a negative offset and I've cont...

Re: Measuring millivolts in dirty electricity

I wouldn't rely on capacitive filters. I'm considering SineTamer and RxDNA V2X. Do you know how SineTamer is different from RxDNA V2X? You can check out this talk by Michael Schwaebe where there is a nice comparison of filters used in a inverter scenario. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tc8pMpD2qLM

Re: Measuring millivolts in dirty electricity

Well, not exactly. They shunt some frequencies to one side of the spectrum while creating others due to reactive currents of the filters themselves. Maybe for the average person is not a big deal, but for anyone with environmental sensitivities is like fighting fire with fire.

Re: Measuring millivolts in dirty electricity

Eric, Thanks for your videos and information. I am very new to this journey having recently acquired EHS. My PicoScope 2205A is on order and I'm looking forward to using it. If I buy the Ubiquitous Filter from Stetzer, does it come with any instructions? Thanks again, Well, the ubiquitous filter I ...

Re: Measuring millivolts in dirty electricity

Did you measure the effects of plug-in dirty electricity meters on neutral line? I read that plug-in dirty electricity meters that rely on capacitor transfer dirty electricity from live wires onto neutral wires. Do you mean Graham-Stetzer dirty electricity meters? I'll check it out, haven't heard s...

Re: Measuring millivolts in dirty electricity

Thanks Eric for the explanation. I've already contacted Dave in order to purchase the high pass filter you use and start carrying out tests. I really appreciate all your help.
Best regards,

Re: Measuring millivolts in dirty electricity

Thanks Eric for the explanation. Did you buy the Stetzer High Pass filter or did you build it yourself? I've found some schematics of a HF filter from Stetzer Electrics: https://www.electricalpollution.com/filter_schematic.html I presume you are using the TA041 Active Differential probe from Picosco...

Re: Measuring millivolts in dirty electricity

Dear Eric,
Thanks for your comments. Could you please explain how you use the Stezter High Pass filter in order to visualize and show dirty electricity to your clients?

PicoScope 4444 and network adapter compatibility

I would like to know if this adapter can be directly connected to my PicoScope 4444 using the TA271 BNC adaptor: http://www.emikon.com/en/productos/emc_technology-PLC_System_Filters-PA_002_em.htm and more information about it here: http://www.emikon.com//admin/index.php?pagina=descargar&doc=15282845...

Re: Measuring millivolts in dirty electricity

Hi Gerry,
I've already tried the Math filter you mentioned and works as expected. Thanks for recommending such a feature which is certainly worth exploring, I love it.
Best regards,
Juan

Re: Measuring millivolts in dirty electricity

Dear Gerry, I'm returning to this post since I understand you could probably get the same results using a High pass filter, but if channel B is not a probe why it shows 200 mV AC voltage on the video. With the PicoConnect 442 you start from 2,5 V. I wonder what type of probe you need to use for gett...

Re: Measuring millivolts in dirty electricity

Hi Juan, To give you a more likely scenario to your question, it depends upon upon exactly where he's taking the measurement. If he's measuring the live connection of a mains power supply (which would be the obvious choice) then he's probably using a suitably CAT rated Differential Probe to measure...
