Re: .NET DLL for the TC-08

Hello Ziko, I understand your point, but you should remember that most users purchase a solution not an instrument. .Net is a major and current environment. Toying with DLL routines takes time which for most is expensive. The whole point of using RAD environments is to work and not waste time on pro...

Re: TC-08 with visual basic 2008

The point is that as it is a supported product and many customers use the .NET environment (in my humble opinion many more than LabView), one has to focus on his/her work and not on interfacing DLLs.

.NET DLL for the TC-08

Hello All,

Did anyone, by chance, write a DLL for C# (.NET)? It is strange that there isn't an official one for a product that is still sold and supported.

Re: Heat flux sensing using TC O8

That is a matter of preference and need. I prefer to get the raw data (well, almost raw as I do prefer that picolog or whatever program I'm using calculate the temperature. We still have some real old-timers here who actually use tables on a regular basis), and only then to manipulate it. I don't kn...

Re: Heat flux sensing using TC O8

kA is a constant for thermal conductivity k is the thermal conductivity constant. A is the area through which the heat passes. T1-T2 is the temperature difference correct x1-x2 is some kind of distance. Actually it is deltaT/deltaX x1-x2 is the distance between the thermocouples. x1 is the position...

Re: Heat flux sensing using TC O8

Measurement of heat flux is simple once you understand Fourier's law: q =-kGradT [W/m^2] Or giving it a bit of hair styling (measuring the power): P =-kAGradT [W] Supposing that you are working in a single dimension: P=-kA(T1-T2)/(x1-x2) Given you know the thermal conductivity k (assuming it is isot...

When saving to text or csv picolog crashes

I've been using picolog for a couple of years with a TC-08 USB. Since yesterday when trying to save the measurement as txt or csv files the program crashes. Upgrading to newer versions after cleaning the registry does not help. Trying to open the files on other computers and exporting them crashes t...

Re: TC-08 USB temperature readings fluctuate

Not in all situations can you shield the thermocouples. In my case I am measuring temperature gradients within an oxide melt. Adding a shield is very expensive (It has to be platinum) and conducts heat which can and will effect both measurements and heat transfer within the melt.

picoscope6 crashes on xp64 SP2 (all releases)

When the scope (3224) is connected via the usb port, the system identifies it and loads its driver. Picoscope 5 informs that the scope is not connected even though the OS has recognized it and installed its driver. All the releases of Picoscope 6, I have downloaded, crash as soon as they are run. My...

Re: TC-08 USB temperature readings fluctuate

This problem cannot be resolved properly by grounding the computer. Unfortunately this product was not designed with such applications in mind. I undertook my measurements connecting the instrument to a netbook which was powered by a car battery. I did not find a simpler way around it. I hope they d...

Solved

The computer power supply was connected to an insulating transformer thus eliminating the problem. I recommend that you improve the TC-08 design in order to eliminate such problems. It may result in a cost increase but I'm sure that some customers are willing to pay the additional cost.

It is insulated ...

Actually, the thermocouple is insulated in an alumina sleeve. It is placed within a high temperature resistance furnace. Connecting the thermocouple to a Eurotherm controller provides the correct temperature.
