Re: Piezoelectric strain monitoring?

Hi, It will be possible but there are difficulties! The precise positioning of the gauges on the measured object is critical as is the method of glueing. It is very easy to ruin a complete set of gauges by just getting one thing wrong. You will need a +/-5V energisation power supply so that the diff...

Re: Differential thermistor inputs

Hi John,
Your series circuit can work but you only save two resistors and you lose a lot of resolution and accuracy.
PicoLog cannot display the temperatures directly either.
Please contact me again if you have any other questions.

PeterF.

Re: Differential thermistor inputs

Hi John, What you have not realised is that on the ADC-20 there is an input impedance of 1Mohm between each individual input and AG. To calculate the expected voltages, you have to add the seven 1Meg impedances to the circuit diagram. (Channel 1 impedance is shorted out). Apart from that, the whole ...

Re: Measuring voltages using external sensor port

Hi,
Yes, you would still use the 3k3 resistor and the same "Ext Volts.dds" file as before. The DrDaq will measure from 0V to +2.5V and +1.0V is within that range.

PeterF.

Re: Measuring Contact Resistance

Hi Andy, You say you are using the second test circuit that you mention. Can you confirm the actual current flowing through the relay contacts when they are closed, please? I am assuming that it is circa 1A. The diode across the contacts will only allow about 700 to 800 mV across the points when the...

Re: advanced scaling: complex equation or large scl

Hi, Simple Look-up tables have a limit of around 14 lines, above that, use a "Scaling File" but even a scaling file has a limit on the number of lines but I do not have details on t he number. I think it varies on the logger used. You will need to experiment with how many lines you can actually use....

Re: No Outputs on Alarm

Hi Kay, I have checked out a 1216 with all four digital outputs and they all appear to work using the normal settings as shown in "Help". Are you in "Real Time Continuous" recording mode? Digital outputs can only be used in that mode. If you still have problems, please send us a settings (.pls) or d...

Re: High Voltage probes on usb scope?

Hi, Active differential & high voltage probes are expensive for a reason and that is safety. Please don't mess with high voltages unless you really know what you are doing. An Op-amp circuit is no protection for the scope or operator when things go wrong! Please look at the specifications of our hig...

Re: Do I need an In-amp?

Hi, You are right, the "-Ve" input is actually channel 2 but it does not really matter which one you use to connect to the AG since both the "+Ve" & "-Ve" outputs of the load cell are at mid-voltage (about +5V) which is all that is required as a reference ground. For stability, it would be better to...

Re: Frequency Response with Pico 4262

Sinex4.csv Hi, The AWG will only meet it's full flatness and distortion specification up to 20kHz. You can trick it into producing a higher frequency but the response falls off rapidly above 40kHz. If you program the AWG waveform with, for instance, a waveshape that is four sine-wave cycles then th...

Re: Measuring pressure, temperature and force with a ADC-20

Hi, To answer your questions:- 1. Is the ADC-20 capable to handle all of this information? (Yes, that should not be a problem as long as the force is not applied quickly, the ADC-24 has a slow response time, up to 660ms per channel.) 2. I havn't decided on the voltage source, tho I have a 24V 1.5A D...

Re: Do I need an In-amp?

Hi, The first engineer probably wanted to use an instrumentation amplifier in order to amplify and level shift the output of a "Bridge" load cell. This is not necessary with the ADC-24. The ADC-24 is, in effect a single channel device with a multiplexer to give 16 single-ended or 8 differential chan...

Re: Frequency Response with Pico 4262

Hi, Please ensure that trigger is set to auto and I think you will find the peak at LF will be resolved. If the signal is not triggered, the start point for each Fourier transform starts at a different DC value each time and the displayed value at 0Hz will be the peak value of the waveform, giving t...

Re: Cell Charging and Discharging Monitoring using ADC-20

Hi, If you have separate charge/discharge changeover switches for each battery then you can have one set on charge and one set on discharge at the same time. It does not matter to the ADC-20, it just measures the current, in or out of the batteries. All the AG terminals of the terminal board are con...

Re: Cell Charging and Discharging Monitoring using ADC-20

ADC_20 Battery.pdf Hi, The fact that you are only seeing two channels, A & B, suggests to me that when you installed PicoLog on your PC that you have selected as your device "PicoScope 2000 series" and you did not tick the box for "Install for other devices". Please re-run your PicoLog installation...
