PicoScope 5204 hang on trigger re-config

R6.0.15.0 hangs when I switch trigger mode from "None" to "Repeat". This does not happen with R6.0.10.2. I have re-installed with no improvement. Typically I have to cycle power on the 5204 to get it to enumerate after a hang. I am running Windows 2000, up to date. I had a longer description typed i...

Fan noise in 5204

I have a Picoscope 5204. Excellent instrument: we have another on order. I noticed it making more noise lately-- apparently the tiny fan on the back panel is making more noise than at first. And while I was investigating, it made a squealing sound. (The chattering bearing, much-reduced speed type of...

MATLAB matrix file output in version 6.0.10

After having no luck with the SDK, I was very happy to see that you'd released the promised new version of Picoscope 6. And that it supports export in the MATLAB binary matrix format. This is an excellent choice of formats, working out to 4 bytes/sample/channel, and very portable. While I will proba...

Sampling rate options for 5000 series

I am using a 5204 scope. For some of my applications, it would be extremely useful to sample "synchronously"-- that is, to have the sample rate derive from an input clock. For example, in audio applications we often process at 256 * Fs = 256 * 48kHz = 12.288MHz. It would greatly simplify post-proces...

API/SDK versus Export Wizard

In terms of work at this end, the Export Wizard looks much more attractive-- the programming environment in which we do our postprocessing is on the Linux side, while the PicoScope is running on a Windows machine. So if asking for the Wizard means it would arrive in 4-6 weeks, that's what we would d...

Can I use R5.x with 5204?

I see in the "Save as TXT problem" thread that "PicoScope 5.x can still be used for this purpose..." until R6 gets there. I further note that there is a switch in the .ini file for earlier versions of your code which allows datafile compression to be turned off. So... will version 5.16.2 work with t...

Cannot reproduce the error

Since I can't reproduce the error (which was very repeatable before), I have to assume something has changed. Perhaps the PicoScope module was not reinitialized after I upgraded the R6 software-- does the software download code into the scope module? (I have since cycled power.) Everything seems pre...

A happy medium would be good

Yes, a 128 megasample file would be very big. But as things stand, the biggest text capture I can write will fit on a 3.5" floppy disk! What I would actually be capturing would likely be in the 20 megasample range-- 15 video frames at 24nS sample rate. The file would weigh in at about 450MBytes. Hav...

It CAN work, if I sneak up on it

If I immediately switch to 5mS/div or more, the triggers don't work, the sampling is messed up, etc as described above. BUT if I set up trigger first, then gradually increase the time scale, it looks like it is working quite well.

Maybe I should capture the settings good versus bad for comparison?

Timebase struggles with R6.0.9

R6.0.9 seems to work very well in many areas, but I feel like I am pushing the envelope (or just pushing my luck) at a few points: 1) When I increase the horizontal time scale beyond 5mS/div, the numbers change but the waveforms still look like they span about 50mSec across the 10 divisions displaye...

65kSample limit on text file size

I just received my 5204 yesterday, and after some struggles with the included software concluded that I needed the newer code. So I am running R6.0.9 beta. I need to be able to post-process lots of data-- the 128MSample memory of the 5204 was the main selling point. Our post-processing tools include...
