Re: Signals 'stop advancing' across screen

Thanks Martyn, I'll try that today.

And the question I raised about the site?
"P.S. Why am I shown with 'Posts: 0'?"

Re: Signals 'stop advancing' across screen

Although there has been a definite improvement since I upgraded the PC (albeit still under XP), I'm still interested in hearing from PicoTech on whether the files I included in my original post a week ago have provided any insights about the problems please. P.S. Why am I shown with 'Posts: 0'? Terr...

Re: How is Samples setting default derived?

Thanks Neil. Would there ever be any reason for leaving it at that extremely low level, given that all PicoScopes must be connected to a PC, with vastly more memory available? Can you help me further please? What should be a reasonable preferred setting for me currently, working on monostables with ...

Re: PS6 Windows memory leak crash

Memory leaks are typically in the program, not the OS. The application memory usage should not grow over time if its settings are not changed. Yes, I was (am) seeking a response from PicoTech on whether the PicoScope 6 problem was relevant to another OS than Win 10, such as my XP Pro (SP3). Terry, ...

Re: PS6 Windows memory leak crash

As I’ve had many recent crashes of Picoscope 6.11.10 on my XP Pro PC, this thread prompted me to look at its Mem Usage in TM. Overnight in Stopped mode that increased from 124 MB TO 235 MB. Is that unexpectedly high? Why should it increase significantly at all if not collecting samples? Perhaps this...

How is Samples setting default derived?

When I start a new session the number of samples is always set by default to 16k. How is that determined and why is it so low?

I’m using a 2205A with PicoScope 6.11.10 on an XP Pro.

Re: Signals 'stop advancing' across screen

Thanks Benno. So, assuming it’s in Single mode, am I right that the program waits until it reaches the point at which the trigger is set, usually 50%, and if the trigger condition is not met at that instant it stops displaying until the condition is met? Wouldn’t it be more intuitive if it just cont...

Re: Installing two versions of PicoScope?

Martyn, That’s disappointing. Why is it not possible to install in parallel? For several of my major applications I have multiple versions installed, a fairly common situation I believe. Benno, Thanks but neither of those alternatives are attractive in this case. I’m not technically confident enough...

Re: Installing two versions of PicoScope?

Thanks Benno. So, if I understand correctly, I should uninstall my Win 10 version, install the old XP version, and then install the latest Win 10 version beta, when I assume I will be able to choose a different directory.

Does it have to be the beta? Is that robust?

Installing two versions of PicoScope?

I have setup PicoScope6_r6_11_10.exe on my shed XP PC and PicoScope6_r6_13_6.exe on my office Win 10 Pro PC. I'd like to also install the XP version on this Win 10 PC, and try running under compatibility mode. That might allow me to run files from my shed workshop, old and new, as unfortunately your...

Signals 'stop advancing' across screen

Hopefully this schematic will make my question clear: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ya2goxs5xn4bx40/OnlyHalfDisplayed-1.jpg?raw=1 I'm using my 2205A with PicoScope 6.11.10.1540, the recommended last version for an XP PC. I set up the software in Single (or Repeat) Mode, with a timebase of 2s/div (20s fu...

Re: PicoLog 5.23 not working with two channels.

Thanks Martyn, appreciate that fast and clear reply.

But why therefore does PicoLog open by default with the two channels both set to 50mV?

PicoLog 5.23 not working with two channels.

The problem described below with PicoLog 5.23 on my shed XP Home PC motivated me to replace it with a faster, newer XP Pro PC. But on testing my 2205A on this PC I found the identical problem. As soon as I add a second channel and prepare to start recording, the relay starts chattering at a high rat...

Re: PicoLog not finding 2205A

I did eventually manage to get it working. I found an .MSI file in an obscure location and that allowed me to get PicoLog 5.23 working. However I was dismayed to find that it did not resolve the major issue I have on the older (shed) XP Home PC - one of the main reasons for the intended replacement....
