Re: No 2000 series users guide

Thank you for your patience. We will certainly bear your comments in mind when planning the next set of manuals. You made a good point about the MSO grounding advice, which we admittedly failed to mention for the 2000 Series.

Re: No 2000 series users guide

We collected all the available information on these scopes and published it in the PicoScope 2000 Series Quick Start Guide and the PicoScope 2000 Series Data Sheet . There was therefore no need to publish an additional User's Guide . There is no figure for the power consumption of these scopes. We s...

Python demo for PicoScope 2204A

Here's a simple Python 3 demo showing how to open a PicoScope oscilloscope in Windows and display some data. It uses the ps2000.dll driver, which supports the PicoScope 2204A and 2205A scopes among others. ps2000-to-ascii.png This demo uses a quick and dirty method of choosing the timebase. For more...

Re: IMD Measurements Using Picoscope 3206

It may be that you need a technique called "zoom FFT". It's possible using National Instrument LabVIEW (see http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/372416B-01/svtconcepts/zoom_fft_analysis/) but not in PicoScope 6. The NI article says that you need to acquire multiple blocks of data to achieve the d...

PicoScope 6.10.8: Log frequency axis

Our most frequently requested new feature is here at last! PicoScope can now plot a spectrum with a log frequency axis. With both axes set to "Logarithmic", the result is a Bode magnitude plot. You can adjust the number of decades between 1 and 6. Here's what happened when we plotted the output of o...

PicoScope 6.10.8: Save settings on exit

For those of you who wish that PicoScope would start up with the same settings that you used on the last run, the new 6.10.8 release has the answer. There are now many more items in the Save Settings menu: R6_10_2_startup_settings_menu.png The last item, Restore Last Session on Start-up , tells Pico...

Re: Problems measuring the average power with Picoscope

Hi Ginger, We have an application note on this subject: http://www.picotech.com/applications/mains-power-analysis.html. The short answer is that you don't need to integrate, you just take the DC Average measurement of your green channel. The DC Average measurement contains an implied integration, so...

Find Glitches Faster with PicoScope

Dear Readers, Here's a preview of a new article on PicoScope 6 and PicoScopes that will be appearing soon on our website. We took an example of a 1-in-a-million intermittent glitch and explored various ways of detecting it, with estimates of the time taken to find it. Read on to learn: * The differe...

Re: trigger diamond on digital signals

Martyn is right: I put that screenshot in the manual using an experimental version of the software. I don't think the trigger diamond for logic signals was ever publicly released. I will make a note to update the screenshot. Sorry if it caused you any confusion.

Re: Waveform display in analog persistance mode

Here is a PAL video waveform that I captured using a PicoScope 3404B. To get the analog intensity grading that masch asked about in his original post, I set up a custom persistence mode including the 'frequency' option. Note that this only works in repeated trigger modes; in single-shot mode, of cou...

Re: can I use the function that count pulse?

Hi TAKA, We don't yet have a pulse count function, but there is a sort of workaround. Add a 'Frequency' measurement between rulers and then multiply that by the delta between the rulers. E.g. if Frequency = 1 kHz and Delta is 167 ms, then number of pulses = 1000 x 0.167 = 167. This may not be ideal ...

Further to what Hitesh said, we also have an application note on measuring electrical power using PicoScope:

You could adapt it to calculate watt-hours.

Re: strange behavior on dual display setup

The more critical problem is the latter one which allows Picoscope6 to come up on an invisible part of the desktop. There you cannot click on the blue bar and if you are out in the field without access to a second display you cannot fix this problem. Have you tried pressing +
