DrDAQ connected to WINXP via USB Parallel Port CRASHES pico

Post by nastyboy »

My DrDAQ connected to WINXP via USB Parallel Port CRASHES pico record logger.

I’m using DrDAQ with PICO USB Parallel Port DrDAQ USB Driver V3.2 and PICOPP.SYS V1.12

As soon as I Start recording, or soon after starting I get the following error popup window.

________________________________________________________________
microsoft Visula C++ Runtime Library

Assertion failed !
Program:...
File: ..\DRDAQUSB.c
line:217

Expression; 0

For information on how your program can cause an assertion failure, see the visual C++ document on asserts

(Press Retry to debug application - JIT must be enabled)

ABORT RETRY Ignore
__________________________________________________________________-

Then the system crashes no matter if i hit ABORT, RETRY or Ignore.

I notice that even if i set sample rate at 1 per second, sample 1, the data seems to be collected much faster than 1 per second for a few seconds before settling down to 1 per second; if it does not crash before then that is.

If you could please help I would be most grateful.

The error crash happens no matter what inputs I have on or off etc.

thanks

Robert

Hello Robert,

Can you confirm that you are using the latest version of software(5.14.6)?

You can download the software from our website: www.picotech.com/software.html

Hello,

THere is a problem with the DrDAQ and USB driver combination. We are working on it and I do not know when our software development team will have a fix.

Please bear with us!

I have the same issue as Robert with the Assertion problem - any sign of a fix yet?

Same problem still exist!

Data sampling crashes with the Pico USB adaptor. Seems strange that the same problems exists after several years. I just bought my adaptor and have wasted hours trying to resolve the issue. On the Microsoft internet help pages it is recommended to clear the "read only" marker of the temp folder and all underlying folders, but... that did not help either.

Anybody with a fix?

Hi,

Sorry for the inconvenience I have tested this and found that the DrDaq driver version 3.3 does exhibit a problem when running Picolog Recorder. However there is a new driver version 3.4 where this problem has been resolved.

If you could email tech@picotech.com requesting the new driver version 3.4, we will happily email the new driver to you.

Best regards,
Mark

3.4 driver

Post by Guest »

Hi Markspencer,
thanks for your quick response. I have requested the 3.4 driver via email, but haven't received it yet...

Would have liked it a lot if I could get the driver today. Anything you could do to speed things up for me?

(Hopefully you don't find mee too pushy :) )

Hi,

Thank you for your email, I have checked for your email but do not seem to have recieved any requests for the driver.

If you could email again and Quote the following:

DrDaq Driver (drdaq32.dll) Version 3.4 requested.

Best regards,

Dear Markspencer,
I got the driver but it did not help one bit. Same problem as before. I wasted my money buying the USB adaptor and the cables.

If you are able to correct the problem I will be greatful if you would send me the fix.

Hi sorry to hear you are having problems.

1) Could you click on help and then choose about and take a screenshot of what you see?
2)Also could you try running the DrDaq in PicoScope rather then PicoLog to see if you have the same problem.
3) Where did you put the dll when you recieved it, should be by default in C:\Program Files\Pico Technology\Pico Full
4) What I would recommend doing is also removing the software, downloading the latest software and re installing, then placing the attached dll in the location stated above and seeing if this works. (Obviously you have to unzip the file and replace the old one)

Kind regards

Thanks ziko
I'm an idiot. I saved the .dll in the wrong location. My purpose in life is to prove Murphy's law over and over again.

Thanks for not giving up on me.

Best regards
