J1850 PWM (Ford) Serial Decoding

Post by Pontisteve »

I don't see J1850 PWM (or VPW) serial communications in the Serial Decoding section. I'm a bit surprised, given that they are so common in American cars. Is there any way to add J1850 protocols? Are there any plans for Pico to add it in the future?

Hi PontiSteve,

We currently do not have a decoder for this protocol but I have raised a new feature request in relation to this, as we do look to add new protocols where possible.

If you are currently using a PicoScope, it would be helpful if you can capture some signals into a file and send them to support@picotech.com as this would assist with testing.

I second this. SAE J1850-PWM would be greatly appreciated!

Hi buick301,

I've added a note to the feature request.

If you are a current PicoScope user and are able to provide data files, please e-mail them to support@picotech.com and we can then add them to the feature request.

J1850 VPW (variable pulse width, GM cars) would be great too!
Thanks
