Using the current clamp in correct mode

Post by Albert »

Hi all,
I have a question regarding of using the correct mode of the 60A current clamp. I measured the current flow of a Piezo-Injector, used the 20 A mode and measured a value of 7,5 Amps. Thereafter I switched over to the 60 A mode and the measurement was 17,5 Amps. Also I choose during both measurements the right settings of the probe. What I wan´t to know now is, what is the "real" value of the current flow? And how can I choose in future the right settings?

Many thanks in advance,
Albert

It would depend upon the specifications of the clamp, and the stated accuracies for each mode. In general the smallest range that can measure the current you are looking at, would be the sensible choice, so in this case 20A.
