How to overcome Picolog Data Display limited to 16 channels

Post by tates »

Hi,

Just bought three TC08 usb thermocouple loggers and successfully connected them up to my PC and eventually got all three to work and log data (using 21 channels so far).

Trouble is when I click on the view data after a succesful run of a log I can only select 16 of the 21 available channels to display. Now there is plenty more space to display all 24ch on my 17" monitor and there is a scroll left/right bar anyway. So what a pain to have to display different sets of channels and copy & paste them into excel for further analysis. How do I simply get all 21 (24 even) channels displayed and then selected and copied into excel.

I realise that in the graph view that seems to limit it to 20 channels that more than that might look a mess so accept the limitation there.

Yes I have made channel groups to speed up the process but still annoying seeing as plenty of white space between thermocouple reading columns to get the other channels in and as I said 'scroll' for more.

Have I missed something in how to do this ?

Andy

Hi, thank you for your post.

Currently you can only view 16 channels at a time on the spreadsheet display and 20 on the graph display. What you can do thought is create groups, so in the spreadsheet you can create a group to display the first 16 channels, and another group to display the remaining channels.

If you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards

Thanks for the reply.

As I said in my post I had already used groups to speed up the display of the 24 channels on my 3 pico loggers but it is still a pain not to be able to select all 24 channels in the log view for cut and paste into excel in one go.

Any reason why you put a limit at 20 channels rather than a multiple of 8 channels (as you get 8 temp channels on your data logger you see). On my 1024x768 screen there is amply room for more temp channels to be displayed - and of course windows does scroll left and right for smaller screens. I do understand the graph display would become crowded with more channels but that does not really apply to the data display.

Do you have any plans to expand the software to cope with more channels as returned by multiple pico loggers ? After all it may sell more loggers for you..... :-) :)

If so when will it be available - I would be willing to try out a beta copy if that helps and it surely does not represent too much work.

Cheers,
Andy

Ziko,

Many thanks - we can obviously get by with the current method of using groups to select batches of readings to paste into Excel etc but will look forward to when we can display and select more channels at once.

I will keep an eye on this forum for new information - and would willingly accept a beta version to test if this was possible.

Cheers,
Andy.

P.S> like the anti bot questions for guests on this forum - makes a change from the usual. :D
