Help Choosing the Correct Scope

Post by Jaycen »

Hi!

I'm a Manufacturing Engineer for a large company. Occasionally, I'll need to look for signal noise, but primarily I'll be using the scope to measure time by watching high-speed sensors turning on and off with respect to a "fire" signal from a solid-state output.

For most applications, I don't think I'll need faster than 0.0001 s (10 kHz) resolution. I'll need to be able to data log, as well.

Is the 2204A enough scope for my needs?

Also, I see the scope is only rated to +/- 20 VDC.

Am I correct to assume that with a x10 probe, the scope can take +/- 200 VDC?

Yes the 2204a should meet your requirements, and with a x10 probe it can measure upto 200V, although these can't be mains related voltages.
