Cannot change the frequency range

Post by amanning »

I am trying to measure the spectrum of an audio signal, but cannot find a way to change the frequency range on the x-axis of the Spectrum diagram.
See attached screen shot:
Dual view (Scope and Spectrum)
Dual view (Scope and Spectrum)
In the bottom view the spectrum frequency range cannot be changed.
If I only have one view with a spectrum, then the time/division drop down box changes to the frequency range selection, but then I cannot see the signal I am measuring.
Am I doing something wrong?

A second question:
Is it possible to calculate the spectrum from only a part of a trace, say the area between the cursors?

That is the correct operation. There is a primary view which controls the collection of the data, and a secondary view which allows you to view the collected data in a different way. Scope / Spectrum the collection is defined by time, Spectrum / Scope the collection is defined by frequency.

You can zoom in on the data in the secondary view, and scroll, which may help to show the detail you need.
