PT-104: precision when measuring 0.5 Ohm

Post by Andrei »

I want to measure specimens within resistance range approx. 0.5 ... 200 Ohm with precision of 0.25%. It looks like PT-104 is up to the task, but I am not quite sure about the measurement precision in the lower range.

Can you tell me what is the relative precision of resistance measurement at 0.5 Ohm, please?

regards,
Andrei

Hello Andrei,

The accuracy of resistance measurement is to within 1 µΩ when using the 0-375Ω range. This will cover the range you wish to measure.

I am no expert on measurement theory, thus, please correct if I am wrong.

1uOhm looks more like a resolution.

RMS noise on range 375Ohm is 10 ppm, which makes 3.75 milliohm, i.e. accuracy 0.75% when measuring 0.5Ohm.

Thus, if I want to lower RMS noise to 0.25%, I have to average over (0.75/0.25)^2 = 9 measurements, which is not that bad.
