RS232 serial decoding showing wrong data

Post by shson »

Hi

I'm trying to see the data being passed from a microcontroller to a computer over RS232 link, I have hooked up Picoscope's probe to the transmit wire and I can see the data being sent. However when I compare the data shown on Picoscope and TeraTerm's terminal window, they are different.

I'm sending the ASCII character 'a' as a test before I try to send the actual data. On terminal window, I'm getting 'a' as expected, but on Picoscope, I'm getting an unknown character or hex value of 0xEA (see screenshot attached below).

The serial decoder is correctly set to RS232/UART, as well as correct baud rate and parity settings. Threshold and hysteresis are set to 0V.

Any ideas why it is showing the wrong data?

Cheers
Eric

Can you post the psdata file matching this collection, we will then be able to look at the settings to see what is wrong.
