when is a new version of picoscope available ?

Post by qrptechbv »

Hi,

I have bought and used a 2204a some time ago but due to a libmono
problem I (and a lot of others) can not use my scope anymore.

usbtest finds the 2204a scope :

Pico USB device found: /dev/bus/usb/005/002

- It belongs to root (which is not you) who has permissions rw-
- The members of group pico (which you are in) have permissions rw-
- Everyone else has permissions r--
- You can write to this device and so will be able to use it.

I have compiled the ps2000con program and run it :

roelofh@castle:~$ /opt/picoscope/bin/ps2000con
PS2000 driver example program
Version 1.0

Opening the device...
Handler: 1
Device opened successfully

Driver Version : PS2000 Linux Driver, 2.1.5.6
USB Version : 2.0
Hardware Version : 17
Variant Info : 2204A
Serial : CV682/019
Cal Date : 14May15

I am using a Debian 8.2 testing with Mate desktop fully up to date install.

Also running apt-get update gives this warning :

W: http://labs.picotech.com/debian/dists/p ... /InRelease: Signature by key 790128FE0D37172A2C56ACB16964D13AA2A43CCE uses weak digest algorithm (SHA1)

Thank you,

roelof

Hello,

I'm having a similar issue that has occurred since upgrading to Ubuntu 16.04LTS. I have also performed a new install of 16.04 as well, then followed the posted instructions (https://www.picotech.com/downloads/linux) for installing the picoscope software and drivers as I have had success with in Ubuntu 15.04 and 14.04, however the picoscope application cannot find the picoscope device (2205a): the "No Device Found" dialog box appears.

The USB device is being recognized by the operating system, however:
  • $lsusb
    ....
Bus 003 Device 014: ID 0ce9:1007 Pico Technology PicoScope 2000 series PC Oscilloscope
    ....
Any advice on what step to try next?

Thanks for your help!

Mark,

The next thing to do is wait for picotech to release a version that
does not break down due to libmono. I am hoping for a VERY soon
release.

Did you try the usbtest and usb2000con programs ?

I am not going to backport, or whatever it is called, an old version
of libmono to get picoscope working. But in the meantime I find
myself without my useful tool.
