Spurs in 3206 at multiples 60 KHz?

Post by derek_gerlach »

I am using the Pico 3206 with a Dell Inspiron 4100 laptop with Win XP and R5.13 Pico SW. I use the pico SW spec anal mode, and I see frequency components at 60 KHz and multiples thereof. I have the Pico unit unconnected from all inputs. All other equipment in the lab is off, with the exception of the laptop. It makes no difference if the labtop is running from mains or battery power. There is a slight difference (1-2dB) in the amplitude of the spurs if the pico inputs are terminated or not. The spurs are present on both chA&B. I have enclosed a .jpg of the spectrum. This plot was made with BW set to 7781 KHz. Enclosed is also a .pss file describing the setup.

Question: Are these known spurs in the Pico 3206? Or do you think they are coming from my labtop?

Hello Derek,

Thank you for your interesting post.

This sounds like your scope needs to be returned for repair. According to your traces, we think there may be a failing component on the scope power supplies.

Please contact us directly to arrange the repair.
