Oscilloscope for DDR3 debug?

Post by NicholasLee »

I am looking for a test tool to help me debug DDR3 connected to an ARM-9 processor. (Memory clock is 400MHz.)
I would also be interested in debugging the Gig Ethernet, (or at least analyse the RGMII connections to the PHY at 250MHz).
My PCBs are all fine-pitch SMD (mostly 0.8mm pitch BGAs), with impedance-controlled & matched-length tracks.

NB: I don't need portability, battery powered, or automotive.
However, the 'scope would only ever be used in a lab environment, near a PC, on mains-power.
That's what I am considering a USB 'scope. After all, why should I buy a a 'scope with a tiny 5.7" display, when it will always be sat next to a PC with several 27" monitors attached to it.

Purchase recommendations, pros-and-cons? Specialist probes or accessory recommendations?

Persuade me :)

Hi NicholasLee,

Please could you e-mail support@picotech.com so that we may discuss your requirements in detail?

It would be helpful to know if you are looking to analyse signal integrity.

Regards,
