How to use GPS timestamp in PicoScope 6

Post by riduan »

Hello there,

Currently I am using 2 picoscopes model 4224 and 4424 that capturing electromagnetic radiation from lightning events. The total horizontal window size is 2 seconds and I am using block triggered mode to capture the event with pretrigger delay set at 15%. The problem is to get the capture time with resolution of milliseconds so that we can capture with such format HH:MM:SS.xxxx. I have a GPS (USB) receiver connected to the same PC as the picoscopes. The question is does it possible to program picoscope 6 software to get the GPS timestamp when the system is triggered?

Thanks.

Riduan

Unfortunately it is not possible to link the GPS time stamping with the PicoScope 6 software.

Does your GPS Rx have a one second pulse output? You could use this if you have a spare channel on your scope.

Thanks for the answers. For now we decided to use 1PPS output from GPS to solve the timestamp problem but at the same time we are trying to make use the Matlab SDK.
