THE DrDAQ NEW MINIATURE BAROGRAPH - PART 5

Post by Glovisol »

The barograph has performed faultlessly since it has been put on test two weeks ago. Gone are all the problems with temperature compensation and oil leaks one had to cope with the differential sensor. What is amazing is of course the extreme sensitivity/dynamic range: what one sees in barely a few mm on a mercury barometer, here is noted in several cm with equal precision. Here on tenth of mmHg (0,13 hPa) can be seen in centimeters of PC screen. The same can be said if this unit is compared to the old writing barograph whose strip lasted one week. Here we can have a recording as long as permitted by Picolog: e.g.infinite, as Picolog can automatically restart a new file once on file is full.

By opening the PLW file, all machine data are readily available. PSU output stability is excellent with voltage variations in the order of 600 to 800 microvolts, which are automatically corrected by the Picolog algorithm. The next step is to have the system working off the 5V USB bus: this is a difficult job, but work on it is almost complete and will be posted soon.
